Illuminate 2017 kickstarted the commemorations of the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower which has connections to Gainsborough. The evening included performances held in the United Reformed Church, followed by a lantern parade around the town.
Illuminate 2017 was funded by Arts Council England formed part of the Mayflower 400 project which commemorated the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower which has connections to Gainsborough, and the Pilgrim Roots region including Austerfield, Babworth, Retford, Scrooby and Sturton Le Steeple.
