Trinity Arts Centre have a great range of films this Easter ideal for all the family. From Mary Poppins and the Little Mermaid, to How to Train Your Dragon and the Lego Movie 2! There’s something for everyone! The centre will also be running activity workshops so make sure to follow them on Facebook for regular updates.

Mutinies, Mermaids and Muskets

6 to 7 April at Gainsborough Old Hall

Come and meet Simpkin, a Tudor Privateer and Explorer, who served with Captain Drake during his circumnavigation of the world.

Simpkin has many tales to tell; of the hardship of life on board ship, of visiting far off lands, of involvement with the slave trade, and of battling against the Spanish as, it should be remembered, one man’s ‘Privateer’ is another man’s ‘Pirate’!

Visit their Toilers of the Deep exhibition, take part in our Maritime trail and make your own clay ships lantern to take home.

Normal admission applies small additional charge of £2 for clay craft activity.

Martitime Trail

6 to 24 April at Gainsborough Old Hall

Part of their temporary exhibition – Toilers of the Deep. Some of the pesky sea creatures have escaped from the exhibition and gone off crawling around the hall.

Can you count them so we can round them up? There could be a treat in store for you at the end…

Gainsborough Model Railway Open Days

20 to 22 April at Gainsborough Model Railway

Come and see authentic replicas of famous locomotives such as Flying Scotsman, Papyrus and Mallard, just three of the numerous locomotives used on this model to haul crack expresses.

Enjoy the great outdoors

Owlet Wood is just a few minutes’ drive from Gainsborough with delightful woodland walks. It’s free to park and you can explore the wood using its network of footpaths, which are dry all year round thanks to the sandy soil. Owlet is largely flat and there are no steps or other obstructions, except for bracken and bramble growth in the summer months.

If you want to venture further afield, the Lincolnshire Wolds is just under an hours’ drive away with a variety of walks and cycle routes for all ages and abilities.

Easter Fun Day

6 & 7 April, 12 to 4pm at Bransby Horses

Join in the fun at Bransby Horses Easter Fun Day! Circus Performers, ‘Feet First Entertainment‘ will be there to keep everyone entertained (6 April only) as well as ‘Outta the Ordinary Animals’ who will be here for an animal meet and greet.

There will also be Easter activities to take part in such as the Easter Egg hunt, egg decorating as well as glitter tattoos, a bouncy castle and competitions to enter.

This event is free to attend but activity prices may vary. Donations will be gratefully received.

Easter Bunny Extravaganza

6 to 22 April, available at intervals between 11am & 4pm at Rand Farm Park

Wonder through the warren to the bunny school where you can enjoy an interactive show in the potting shed with Hopkins the gardener and meet all the baby rabbits with Miss Cottontail! You’ll also meet the Easter Bunny and get to take your own egg home!

Family Days Out

If you’re looking for something more hands on; why not visit Rand Farm Park?! Discover an exciting balance of indoor play, outdoor attractions and animal hands-on experiences. You can also take a drive out to Hall Farm Park (30 minutes from Gainsborough), a family run working farm with lots of things to see and do giving visitors a unique experience. Woodside Wildlife and Falconry Park also offers hands-on access to some exciting animals!

If you’re more energetic then Wild Pines Park is the place to be! It’s one of the UK largest rope courses in UK offering you the chance for a unique and adventurous day out in the trees.

Hidden Gems of West Lindsey Photographic Competition

Calling all happy snappers!

What better way to explore the area! Pick up your camera or smartphone and look for Hidden Gems across the district. These could include quirky signs, unusual architecture, less well known spaces and places or local features that might capture the viewer.
