10 Things to do in Gainsborough and West Lindsey this Bank Holiday Weekend

Make the most of the last bank holiday before Christmas (yes we said it) with some great places to visit and things to in Gainsborough and the surrounding area.

1. Gainsborough Old Hall

Thought to be one of England’s best preserved Manor Houses, Gainsborough Old Hall has a fascinating past. From Royal visits to an alleged secret place of worship – the Old Hall is sure to surprise any visitor who steps inside. Children can still try their fun summer trail which is available until 1 September.

Open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturdays and Sundays, 11am to 4pm.

2. Gainsborough Heritage Centre 

Set inside an early 20th Century Post Office, explore the town’s significant industrial and domestic history through artefacts, displays and exhibitions at Gainsborough Heritage Centre. Their current temporary exhibition ‘A Celebration of Ping’ shows the history of this major golfing company which is located in the town

Open Tuesdays and Saturdays, 10am to 4pm and Sundays, 11am to 4pm.

3. Gainsborough Model Railway 

See one of the largest hand built model railways depicting The East Coast Main Line from Kings Cross to Leeds Central at Gainsborough Model Railway. This uniquely built railway will be open all bank holiday weekend for enthusiasts to enjoy.

Open Saturday and Sunday 1.30 to 5.30pm and Bank Holiday Monday, 10.30am to 5.30pm.

4. Blyton Ice Cream

Choose from over 65 flavours of award winning ice cream at Blyton Ice cream! From Apple Pie to classic vanilla – there’s a flavour for everyone! You can now have sugar free and vegan options too! Kids can also enjoy the children’s play area with crazy golf, table tennis and play park that is suitable for all ages.

Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and weekends and bank holidays, 9am to 6pm.

5. Uncle Henry’s Maize Maze  

Officially the UKs best Maize Maze! Explore Uncle Henry’s amazing maize maze where each visitor receives a game card with a challenge set by Healthy Henry. Can you find all the clues and make your way back out? Entry to the maze also provides each visitor with a wristband for the day so they can enter the walled garden and enjoy the brand-new jumping pillows, garden games and picnic bench seating.

Open Monday to Saturday 9.30am to 4pm and Sundays 10am to 3pm.

6. Rand Farm Park  

Enjoy a fun-filled family day out at Rand Farm Park and see and pet farm animals and pets along with a wide range of other exciting activities. ROOARING into the bank holiday weekend is Jurassic Farm Park open until 3rd September where you can meet Pete the Dinosaur, dig for fossils and build your own Dinosaur!

Open every day, 10am to 5pm.

7. Hall Farm Park   

Set on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, Hall Farm Park is a family run farm where visitors can enjoy a range of animals from traditional to the more exotic. They also have an all-weather play barn which includes a giant snow slide, giant bouncy castle and enormous sand pit. If the weather is nice visit the outdoor play area and let off steam, climb, run, jump and swing on the mini trim trail, climbing frame, swings and trampolines.

Open every day, 10am to 5pm.

8. Wild Pines Park  

One of the largest rope courses and voted top 5 tree top adventure in the UK! Wild Pines Park near Market Rasen offers you the chance for a unique and adventurous day out in the trees with challenging and exciting activities for all ages.

Open every day during school holidays 10am to 4pm with last session starting at 2pm. Booking strongly advised.

9. Woodside Wildlife Park   

Get hands-on access to some exciting animals at Woodside Wildlife park near Langworth! This fun-packed visitor attraction is suitable for all ages with adventure play area, traditional tea room and over 50 different species of animals! Just this year they welcomed a group of humbolt penguins to the park as part of an international breeding programme.

Open every day, 10am to 5pm.

10. Walking in the Wolds  

Get out and explore glorious countryside that’s right on your doorstep! From town trails to countryside walking – there’s plenty to explore including the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds; just under an hours drive from Gainsborough.
